It is too bright, but if one leaves both eyes open, the eye looking
around, not through the dot, still sees the star and is ok. It looks
like I have a use for a couple of used batteries. It uses those
quarter sized batteries. Maybe there is one of that size which has
less voltage. It is possible to make a resistor of paper and pencil
carbon to put on top of the battery. I did that with the light in the
polar scope of the Meade. It was much too bright.
Viewing is quite good. The Virgo complex is quite clear tonight.
I am using a 32MM with a 2 1/2 Barlow (94X) and on several sweeps I
have had 3 nebulae in the field at once. I am going to calibrate the
true field of this setup now with Regulus. jlrc
