The Tech Plan Reporting System for E-rate FY (Funding Year) 2007 is
ready for your input. It is an E-rate requirement that you complete a
Technology Plan each year before you file your E-rate Form 470. Your
Form 470 must be filed at least 28 days before you file your E-rate Form
471. The Form 471 filing window is usually mid-November to mid-February
each year. You can file your Form 470 now, however, again, your Tech
Plan for E-rate FY 2007 must be completed (not necessarily certified),
first.
To complete (create) your Tech Plan for E-rate FY 2007, go to
http://edweblab.unl.edu/retc and log in with your Co-Dist number
(including the hyphen) and password. If you cannot find or do not
remember your password, please contact your ESU E-rate person first; if
you still need assistance recovering your password, please contact Mike
Kozak at mike.kozak at nde.ne.gov.
After logging in to your account, you will be given the choice to "Edit
Existing Tech Plan" or "Create a New Tech Plan." If you haven't yet
done so this school year, you will want to click on "Create a New Tech
Plan." You will now be presented with two Options when creating your
new Tech Plan; one (Option I) will be to select a Tech Plan (probably
the previous year) from which to transfer contact information and School
Improvement Goals and Strategies; two (Option II) will be to "Create a
New Empty Tech Plan". More than likely, most schools will want to
choose Option I, and transfer Tech Plan for FY 2007. If you choose FY
2006 under Option I, you will then be asked to "Select Year for Plan:"
(this will, of course, be FY 2007). It will then confirm that your new
Plan has been created. That's it. If all of the Tech Plan information
(i.e. contact name, etc.) is not correct or current, you can (at any
time later) edit any item transferred to the newly created FY 2007 Tech
Plan.
Update the contact information and School Improvement Goals and
Strategies as needed. Also, you will need to enter technology inventory
and budget information for FY 2007. The budget information, of course,
will be estimates.
When you are done (your Tech Plan is complete), click on the
Notification section, click the appropriate responses, and then click
the "Submit" button. If your Tech Plan is, in deed, complete you will
receive a certification notice and Certification Number within 5-7 days.
PRINT THIS CERTIFICATION NUMBER NOTICE EMAIL and put it in your new FY
2007 E-rate file folder. You do have a file folder for each E-rate
year, right? This is very important if you are ever audited in the
future. As a backup, a PDF version of this document is also archived on
the Tech Plan Certification System server.
If you have any questions, contact your ESU E-rate person first.
