ESU 10 Administrators,
I recently was introduced to a resource that I believe is one of the best educational products on the Internet, and it is very affordable especially if enough schools decide to use the product.
netTrekker di is the award-winning academic search engine that's safe, fast, and easy to use for teachers, school librarians, students, and parents. netTrekker di delivers more than 180,000 educator-selected online resources that support the complete K-12 curriculum and align with Nebraska standards to every desktop. It also features readability ratings, customized ELL content, dictionary/translation hot key, and a safe image search. With netTrekker, educators and students spend less time searching and more time focused on learning!
You can see the list of netTrekker features and benefits at http://www.thinkronize.com/portfolio/netTrekker_di.html

Attached is a flyer for more information. If interested in using netTrekker next year, complete the attached commitment form and fax it to the number on the form -- the more schools that sign up, the lower the cost per student. Right now the cost is at $.87 per student and could go to $.73 if enough schools indicate an interest. The deadline is May 31, 2006.
Below is a letter from Marc Callahan, Key Account Manager for netTrekker, in which he explains more about netTrekker and some possible funding ideas. If you have any questions about the product or pricing, please contact him.

POTENTIAL FUNDING SOURCES...
Please click this link for access to detailed NCLB information -
http://school.nettrekker.com/frontdoor/nclb.epl. The suggestions below may
provide additional funding options for your consideration:
SUPERINTENDENTS
* Some districts created a special budget to help pay for rising fuel costs
for school vehicles - relating to the recent per-gallon price increases for
gasoline & diesel fuel.
TITLE-1 FUNDING
* Some Title-1 Funds - cannot be carried over - and are set to expire at the
end of the 2005-2006 fiscal school year.
SPECIAL EDUCATION FUNDING
* Sometimes funds become available due to recent program changes - i.e. a
student receiving a specific service may have recently moved out of the
district.
* Special Education Directors may have access to funds based on Medicaid
Recovery - for services provided to students within your district. Medicaid
Recovery funds can be used for other education related purchases - including
those that pertain to READABILITY and STATE STANDARDS.
* If your district qualifies to receive a Special Education funding increase
- 50% of the total increase may be spent for other educational purposes.
MULTI-DEPARTMENT PARTNERSHIPS
* Is it possible for your Bilingual + Curriculum + Library-Media +
Technology Directors to contribute a portion - of the total cost - to
purchase netTrekker d.i. access for your district?
ESU - PTO - PTA PARTNERSHIPS
* Is it possible for your School District to partner with your ESU and/or
PTO - PTA to help purchase netTrekker d.i. access?
