In the previous Internet Safety workshop announcement, the date was
incorrect in the message text. The workshop is Thursday, Feb 1.
Kids think they know about Internet safety, but who taught them?
They've learned most of what they know from one another. Schools have
adopted fire safety and tornado drills into the schedule so that
students will know what to do if a fire or tornado should ever happen
whether at home or school. Has your school adopted an Internet Safety
Curriculum? If not, please attend or send someone to the:
Internet Safety Workshop - February 1, 2007 at ESU 10 from 9:00 AM -
3:30 PM
This workshop will explore Internet Safety and why it's important to
know what can happen to children and adults on the Internet. We'll look
at a variety of resources that can be used in the classroom to enable
kids to safely explore the Internet. Participants will look at i-Safe,
the FREE K-12 Internet safety curriculum that enables students to
recognize and avoid dangerous, inappropriate or unlawful behavior and to
respond appropriately. We'll also cover other topics including cyber
ethics, computer viruses, plagiarism and theft of intellectual property,
as well as investigate other resources from the Nebraska State Patrol,
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, FBI, etc. Teachers
will be able to order the FREE i-SAFE curriculum materials once they
have attended this workshop, as well as share the information with
others.
