[Powerschool] NSSRS reporting dates

As I understand the transfer process, the exit date should be the first
day after his/her last day. If they don't show up, their last day would
be considered the first day of school, so the exit date should be the
next day. Or you might want the exit date to be the first day of
school, I think I recall that if the dates match the enrollment records
get tossed in the nightly or weekly process, but that was some time (and
several versions) ago.

You do NOT want the exit date to be before the entry date, that causes
validation errors when you go to do the EOY process. I have noticed
that students enrolling now are getting an entry date of the first day
of school, and that is what the EOY does with promoting students. So I
think the exit date should either be the first or second day of school.

Class enrollment entry date can't be before the first day of class, can
they? I think you get an error if you try to use a date that is outside
of the date range of the course.

BTW, we were told that our first day of school has to be the first day
for students or the state reports will not work correctly. If the
student enroll date is before your classes start the state reports will
be wrong. We used to have the first day match the day teachers returned
and just not mark those days in session. In that way the teachers could
see their rosters in the gradebook before students arrived. But we had
a lot of trouble with the state reports last year because of that entry
date.

One other question, has anyone else noticed that "demographics view" is
gone from the side menu? It's still available through counselor's
screen. Or is that just us?

Subject: [Powerschool] NSSRS reporting dates

FYI:

This is probably many of us need to re-remember for the start of our
school year.

I need to know what date to exit students on if they are not attending
school anymore.

EXAMPLE:

Student (John) attended school last year.

Enrollment date for all classes is 8/1/08.

First day of school is 8/14/08.

John does not show up for the first day of school and by the 15th we
get notice that he has transferred out to another district.

Should his transfer date be set to a date prior to 8/14/08?

8/14/08 will be the date we use for NSSRS state reporting for students
(Is this correct)
